Oval macrocytes
Definition:

 

Oval macrocytes are slightly oval, hyperchromic macrocytes.
Occurrence:
Oval macrocytes occur when there is a disturbance in DNA synthesis with vitamin B12 and/or folic acid deficiency (megaloblastic anemia).
