Appearance:


Megakaryocyte remnants consist mainly of bare nuclei with coarse chromatin and small, pale residual cytoplasm (platelets). In the peripheral blood, their count is indicated in reference to 100 leukocytes.
Occurrence:
Myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic syndromes.
